Eric Guido of Vinous scored Sixmilebridge reds high! “Frankly, I was stunned by these wines’ clarity and regal tannic structures, which reflect a more Old World style. This is yet another feather in Anthony Yount’s hat.”
2019 Cabernet Sauvignon
An intense burst of spicy red currant, dusty dried rose and spice wafts up from the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s exquisite on the palate, seamlessly silky and refined. Deps of dark red fruits slowly saturate. This leaves a chewy concentration and drippy tannins that promise years of evolution. Residual acids maintain a lovely freshness. The balance here is something to behold. Well done.
The 2019 Limerick is distinctly savory, with an old-world-style bouquet of dried roses giving way to spiced citrus peels, wild strawberries and flowery underbrush. It’s elegant to the core with silken textures, yet quickly gains tension with intense tart red fruits and exotic spice. This finishes spicy with edgy tannins that tug at the palate as gobs of tart raspberry and minerals taper off.
The 2019 Shannon impresses with dusty florals and dried black cherry fruit as underbrush and sage nuances emerge. This is seamlessly silky and elegant in style, with a perfumed blend of red and black fruits underpinned by saline mineral tones that add grip. It finishes tannic yet exceptionally long and spicy with a mint of mentholated herbs, adding freshness.
